In my experience, acupuncture may speed up the recovery time for early Bell’s palsy ( 贝尔氏麻痹症）.  Patients are often on western medication already.  I would expect improvement in most early cases after each treatment.   

However in severe cases where facial synkinesis occurs the goal of treatment is to increase muscle strength and range of certain facial movement.
